Conference Services

We offer customized conferences on a variety of leadership topics, delivered over one to three days. We use a lively combination of keynote speaker, didactic presentation, large group activities, as well as small group workshops. See below for examples of our publicly offered conferences presented in Ottawa over the past eight years.

Past Conferences

Leadership = Challenge. Choice. Change

Leadership is both a role and a responsibility. It poses new challenges, it brings change and, above all, it confronts us with choices. Stepping into a leadership position forces all of us to look at ourselves, our work and our relationships, with new eyes.

Research makes clear that quality leadership matters:
- Organizations with good leaders outperform others on almost every measure of performance and workplace health, including productivity, turnover, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, profit and market share.

Through a combination of presentation, dialogue and self-assessment tools, this conference offers new insights, new skills and new frameworks for thinking about yourself and your role as leader in times of change.

This conference is for those who want to know more about the forces that affect their performance as a leader, for those stepping into a leadership position, for those interested in the latest thinking on leadership in today's fast-paced environment.

Making a Difference in Our Communities

You attended, or have heard about, our evening with Meg Wheatley in October 2006, when she challenged us to become leaders in our communities. At this follow-up to that enlightening session, a panel of committed civic leaders spoke of their passions and experiences to create strategies for 'walking out' and 'walking on'. There was time to share our stories with each other and develop connections that can support us as we make a difference in our world. As noted in the attached article [Download PDF | 20k], Meg's definition of leadership is "...anyone who is willing to help — who sees something that needs changing and takes the first step forward."

The Women's Leadership Revival Tour

Meg Wheatley is stimulating and inspiring. Her inquiry into how we women can step forward with the gift of our leadership and offer it in service to our community is truly wonderful.This is an evening's exploration, conversation and celebration with Meg and many women from the Ottawa community. Meg seeded the conversation by describing the impact women are having in communities around the world, and then led us in an inquiry about our own leadership.

Women and Leadership

These conferences are designed to present critical management and thinking skills to women who work in and/or aspire to positions of leadership. Today, women are challenged to do more with less, adapt quickly to changing circumstances and find time to balance the demands of their families, workplaces and communities. Exhaustion, discouragement and a feeling of being on the edge can be frequent experiences as we juggle our multiple roles and responsibilities.

This one-day conference on leadership is designed to provide a framework for understanding and assessing your personal leadership style based on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership as researched by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner.

This is your opportunity to step out of your daily schedule and join with other women living similar challenges. This is your chance to embrace effective strategies for your growth and development as a leader.

Bringing Vitality to the Workplace... The Key to Performance and Productivity

For details and information, please download the conference program [Download PDF; 208k]

There is a growing awareness that bringing vitality into the workplace means placing a greater emphasis on the importance of relationships among those who work within the organization itself. This awareness is rooted in empirical evidence which indicates that healthy workplace relationships are key to productivity, performance, and long term organizational success. The research is clear:

  • organizational climate accounts for 20% to 30% of business performance;
  • employee attitudes have a measurable impact on customer satisfaction and, thus, on business profits; and
  • good leaders are the key: they outpace bad or mediocre leaders on almost every measure of organizational health, including productivity, turnover, customer service, employee engagement, profit and market share.
