Susan ProsserR.N., B.Sc.N., M.A.

Susan Prosser is a Senior Associate with more than 30 years of combined experience in nursing, counselling, group leadership, parent education and psychotherapy. She has been with the Adlerian Counselling and Consulting Group since 1993 and has built a strong practice working with individuals of all ages, families and couples.

Susan’s interest in Adlerian Psychology began when she was training to be a parent educator in 1976. The Adlerian principles of holism, mutual respect, empowerment of clients by building on strengths and understanding limitations, fit with her own personal philosophy and led her on to further study.

Susan has built on her Adlerian training and incorporates cognitive-behavioural approaches with emotion-focused and psychodynamic therapies that provide a holistic method of working with people. She is also trained in EMDR, a proven, effective method of healing the results of trauma.

Susan’s focus is to help her clients with relationships — the relationship we have with ourselves, our partners, children, family, friends and colleagues. Disruptions in these relationships can contribute to problems such as depression, anxiety, stress and burnout. Understanding more about ourselves and others, healing past and current hurts and trauma, and finding ways to improve relationships can make a significant difference in our overall health and well being.

Issues such as depression, anxiety, burnout, trauma, couple unhappiness, family conflicts, parenting concerns, communication difficulties and self-esteem are the areas of concern that Susan can address with you.
