Sue SmarkalaB.Math, A.T.C. (Adler Trained Coach)

Sue joined the Adlerian Counselling and Consulting Group as an Associate in 2001. Sue is a Professional and Life coach who offers coaching to individuals and groups to support them in creating positive change in their lives. Coaching topics may include increasing effectiveness in a particular area of life, choosing a different career focus, developing leadership skills and improving interpersonal relationships. An Adler Trained Coach, Sue is working towards Adler School and International Coaching Federation certification.

Sue also facilitates customized leadership/communication development programs for organizations, better positioning them to bring out the best in their employees. Sue offers a hybrid service of facilitation and coaching. Such an approach ensures new skills are applied and honed in the workplace.

"The power of coaching for me is in the intention the client brings to the coaching process. Building on the strengths inherent in every person, together we create an awareness of their world, and develop a variety of choices that are available to them. Guided by the clients' best intentions, we build a framework for them to achieve their goals and to continue their learning and growth throughout their lives. It is my privilege to walk as coach with people as they choose their path through their life. With that inner pull toward possibility, I believe progress is assured."

As a manager in the high tech industry for more than 25 years, Sue built strong technical teams to deliver software project objectives by facilitating communication, supporting individual development and creating an open environment in which people's contributions were encouraged and recognized.

Sue has a keen interest in developing stronger communities through her volunteer work with her church community as Chair of Council, and the Women's Business Network of Ottawa — a network of entrepreneurial, management and commissioned sales women — as Chair, Internal Communications.
